Russian conventional weapon systems pose a challenge to Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) in military and prehospital medicine. Current treatment guideline best practices, rooted in evidence-based medicine are a culmination of the past several decades of the Global War on Terror (GWOT). These data are from wounding patterns from mixed weapon systems, unconventional warfare and non-peer adversaries. Anecdotal prehospital Lessons Learned (LL) from Ukraine may support adjustments or reinforcement of current Clinical Practice Guidelines for the care and treatment of the sick and injured in support of a reduction in preventable morbidity and mortality of future war and conflict with a peer or near peer adversaries. In this short anecdotal review, we unpack experience and cases in Damage Control Resuscitation (DCR) and Damage Control Surgery (DCS) from Point of Injury through echelons of Care to Role 2 facilities in Ukraine. Through unpacking these anecdotal experiences, we offer practical Lessons Learned (LL) through Lessons Shared (LS) for the Medical Planner, Warfighter and medical evacuation chain as a whole. ...
