A simple colorimetric biosensor, which uses the modified Ellman's reaction, enables selective analysis of nerve agents based on a different ability of bispyridinium oximes to reactivate enzyme-inhibitor complexes in the phase before dealkylation. The analysis was made based on spectral data of reflectance of the surface of a cotton cloth reaction zone of biosensor with immobilized and stabilized enzyme after inhibition and subsequent reactivation. The evaluation of measured data was made based on a method of artificial neuronal networks. The individual inhibitors from the groups of three nerve agents were identified: sarin, soman, tabun, cyclosarin,...

Amanita muscaria, the red fly agaric, is the most famous of all Amanita. The initial history of this fascinating mushroom dates back to at least the 13th century. The use of mushrooms began in antiquity and is associated with mysticism. The collection and consumption of mushrooms and other plants containing psychoactive substances is now very popular, especially among young people who are experimenting with drugs. Ibotenic acid and muscimol are the main active ingredients of this mushroom, but other substances are likely to be involved in the psychotropic effects. A. muscaria also contains some other non-psychotropic substances...

Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) is a member of the parsley or carrot family (Apiaceae). As its name indicates it is characterized by its size and may grow up to 4 meters in height. Giant hogweed is native to the Caucasus mountains and southwestern Asia and has been introduced to Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States as a garden curiosity. Because of its tenacious and invasive nature it soon becomes a pest within the ornamental garden and readily escapes. It has naturalized in many of the places where it was first introduced. All parts of the plant are poisonous and giant hogweed is toxic to livestock and humans....
