POST-TRAUMATIC INTRACRANIAL EPIDURAL HAEMATOMA

V článku jsou shrnuty současné literární údaje týkající se problematiky poúrazového nitrolebního epidurálního hematomu doplněné zkušenostmi s jedenácti zraněnými, kteří byli na Neurochirurgické klinice Ústřední vojenské nemocnice a 1. lékařské fakulty Univerzity Karlovy v Praze operováni pro tuto diagnózu v průběhu roku 1998. Ve shodě s literárními údaji můžeme na základě výsledků našeho souboru konstatovat, že u tohoto stavu jde o absolutní indikaci k operační léčbě, která musí být provedena urgentně. Prognózu zraněného určuje stav vědomí před operací a přítomnost nebo chybění primárního poranění mozku.

The article summarizes the present literary data concerning the problem of post-traumatic intercranial epidural haematoma. Experience with 11 injured patients who were operated on for this diagnosis at the Neurosurgical Clinic of the Central Military Hospital and the First Medical Faculty in Prague during 1998 is also discussed. In accordance with the literary data we can state, based on the results of our group of injured patients, that in this case there is an absolute indication for surgical treatment which must be performed immediately. The prognosis of the injured is determined by the state of consciousness before the operation and by the presence or absence of the primary brain injury.
