OCCURRENCE OF HEAVY METALS IN DRINKING WATER IN KOŠICE AND THE KOŠICE AREA

Pre zachovanie kvality pitnej vody a jej zdravotnej bezpečnosti je potrebné sledovať aj koncentráciu kovov vo vode. Medzi hlavné zdravotné rizika pre kvalitu pitnej vody patria toxické kovy. Obyvatelia mesta Košíc a okolia sú zásobovaní pitnou vodou vodovodnou a studničnou.
Cieľom výskumu bol monitoring kontaminacie vody a zhodnotenie kvality vodovodnej a studničnej vody. Vzorky vôd boli odoberané a analyzované v dvoch etapách, z 5 zdrojov košického vodovodu a zo studni v 15 obciach tohto regionu. Stanovené koncentrácie vybratých kovov boli porovnané v intervale 10 rokov s prihliadnutím na možné zdroje znečistenia a geologické pozadie tohto uzemia. As, Cd, C1: Cu, Hg, Pb a Sb boli stanovené metôdou atómovej absorpčnej spektrometrie.

The systematic study and determination of metal concentration in the water are very important for good and sustainable water quality. Toxic elements rank among the main health hazards for drinking water quality. Inhabitants of Košice and the Košice area are supplied with drinking waterfrom the public supply and from wells. The aim ofthis research was to monitor water contamination and to provide drinking water quality assessment. Water sample investigation was performed in two periods, in five water supply sources in the city of Košice and in wells in 15 villages of this region. The selected metal concentrations in the public supply and in well water were compared over an interval of 10 years. We considered possible contamination sources that have a negative influence on the environment and also the geological background of this area. As, Cd, Cr; Cu, Hg, Pb and Sb concentrations were determined by means of atomic absorption spectrometry.
