LOW POWER LASER IN BURN MEDICINE

Hana Hamanová, Ladislav Vykouřil

VZL 2001, 70(2):45-48

The authors deal with the problem of the use of low power laser in prevention and therapy of hypertrofic scar which occurred as a result of thermic injury. The study presents comprehensive overview of the effects of soft laser, in particular its significant bíostimulation effect and positive influence on the healing of  tissues are stressed. Current views on the therapeutic use of soft laser in burn medicine are also presented.

MICROALBUMINURIA IN LIPID METABOLISM DISORDER

Miroslav Brndiar, František Malíř, Jaroslav Kačerovský, Jiří Knížek

VZL 2001, 70(2):49-53

In this pilot study the authors proved the relation between microalbuminuria and lipid metabolism disorder. The value of microalbuminuria is increasing statistically significantly (p < 0.001) depending on the value of total cholesterol and also triglycerides (p < 0.01). On the contrary, the value of HDL-cholesterol does not show significant difference (p < 0.05). It follows from it that mostly a low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL, VLDL) takes part in the increasing value of microalbuminuria. This can be considered so serious from nephropatological point of view that we must continue to monitor this finding in a larger group.

MISSION IN ALBANIA

Radovan Matoušek

VZL 2001, 70(2):54-58

The study gives a detailed overview of the establishment, role and structure of the Western European Union (WEU) and its recent peace-keeping military operations, including mission in Albania. The author states his own experience from his participation in this mission in the period from August 20, 1999 to March 15, 2000 when he worked as head physician of the health team for the WEU-MAPE (Multinational Advisory Police Element) in Tirana. He added characteristic features of that time social and economic situation in Albania to his work.

STATISTICAL TESTS OF REGRESSION DEPENDENCES: PROSPECTS OF TIME SERIES OF PROTEIN MAP TESTING

Jiří Knížek, Jiří Stulík, Jan Österreicher, Aleš Macela

VZL 2001, 70(2):59-62

The study states the possibilities of testing of regression dependence mutual relations. It it possible to test by these methods whether two aproximatelly parallel dependences are equal or unequal in any point, in any interval or the whole extent of measurement. It holds true for the evaluation of regression dependences that the testing of unequality has a few times higher information validity than the testing of equality.

AN OVERVIEW OF SYNTHESES OF CHOLINESTERASE REACTIVATORS FROM 1980 TO 1992

Iskra Petrova, Jiří Bielavský

VZL 2001, 70(2):63-73

The article summarizes the syntheses of organophosphate inhabited cholinesterase reactivators published from 1980 to I992. Synthetic procedures used and the evaluation of antidotic effectiveness are mentioned for individual types of reactivators. It follows from the specification of prepared coumpounds that the main attention was paid to reactivators derived from pyridine carbaldoxime and imidazole carbaldoxime.

THE APOPTOSIS EXPRESSION IN STOMACH, BRONCHI AND LUNGS IN RATS POISONED WITH SUBLETHAL DOSES OF SOMAN OR MEVINPHOS - A PRELIMINARY STUDY

Jiří Kassa, Jan Österreicher, Jiří Knížek, Josef Fusek, Aleš Macela

VZL 2001, 70(2):93-96

The features of organophosphate-induced injuries in the respiratory and gastro-intestinal tracts were investigated. The rats were poisoned i. m. with highly toxic organophosphate soman at 48 μg/kg (0.8 LD50) or organophosphorus insecticide mevinphos at 0.4 mg/kg (0.8 LD50). On the third or fifth day following the exposure to soman or mevinphos, the rats were killed using cervical dislocation and the apoptotic changes in stomachs, bronchi and lungs were demonstrated using immunochemical detection of apoptotic cells with the M30 Cytodeath kit. While very few apoptotic cells in the stomach were observed regardless of the type...
