PREGRADUATE EDUCATION IN HYGIENE AT THE JESSENIUS FACULTY OF MEDICINE, COMENIUS UNIVERSITY, MARTIN, SLOVAKIA

Pregraduálna výučba predmetu hygiena na Jesseniovej lekárskej fakulte Univerzity Komenského v Martine sa realizuje v 2 odboroch — v odbore všeobecné lekárstvo a v odbore ošetrovateľstva. Odborní asistenti Ústavu hygieny JLF UK zabezpečujú výučbu pre slovenských i zahraničných študentov. Pre študentov všeobecného smeru sa predmet hygiena vyučuje v 10. semestri. Výučba predmetu predstavuje 24 hodin přednášok a 12 hodin praktických cvičení, tematicky je orientovaná na hygienu výživy a hygienu životného prostredia. Pre zlepšenie praktických znalostí študentov pracovisko pripravuje v budúcom školskom roku zmenu rozsahu výučby v prospech praktických cvičení.
V odbore ošetrovateľstvo sa predmet hygiena vyučuje v 6. Semestri v rozsahu 6 hodin prednášok a 6 hodin praktických cvičení za semester. Okrem toho pracovisko vyučuje aj predmet Zdravie a výživa v I. semestri, v rozsahu 36 hodin prednášok a 36 hodin praktických cvičení. Pri súčasnom malom personálnom obsadení (3 odborní asistenti a 1 laborantka) pracovisko musí zabezpečovať výučbu hore uvedených predmetov aj vo forme bakalárskeho štúdia ošetrovateľstva.

Pregraduate education in hygiene at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Martin is carried out in two study branches: general medicine and nursing. Teachers at the Hygiene Institute teach this subject to Slovak and foreign students. Hygiene is taught in the 10th semester for students in the general medicine branch. Hygiene education consists of 24 lessons of lectures and 12 lessons of practical exercises. It is thematically focused on nutrition and environmental hygiene. In order to improve students' practical skills, a change in the study structure in favour of practical exercise is being prepared for the next School year.
In the nursing branch, hygiene is taught in the 6th Semester (6 lessons of lectures and 6 lessons of practical exercises). Besides this, the Institute is also responsible for education in health and nutrition (36 lessons of lectures and 36 lessons of practical exercises) in the Ist semester. With the present low number of personnel (three teachers, and one laboratory assistant), the Institute has to teach all the above mentioned subjects in the bachelor form of study.
