Possibilities for the Early Detection of Nephropaties in Connective Tissue Diseases

Kidney affection in connective tissue diseases (CTD) is one of the frequent organ lesions which are manifested in particular by proteinuria (P) and hematuria. When these symptoms occur, a kidney biopsy should be performed for a number of reasons. In a group of 50 patients with CTD, 27 of whom had systemic lupus erythematodes (SLE), P was found in 55% of them and P and microalbumineria (Ma) in 70.4% of them during the entrance examination. This study summarizes the theoretical impact of bystander effect research on radiation biology and describes the results of bystander effect aimed studies on practice. It follows from bystander effect research that the frequency of radiation-induced stochastic effects as carcinomas and DNA mutations is higher than recent values derived from the invalid linear-quadratic model.

"Sleeping gas" used for releasing the hostages from the Moscow theatre represents a very efficient non-lethal chemical weapon which has been unknown till now.
