VZL 2009, 78(3):86-89
Blunt cerebrovascular injuries belong to relatively less frequent injuries, although their incidence has been increasing during the last decade. More than 90 % of them are related to traffic accidents, particularly combined with cervical spine hyperextension or hyperflexion. Early diagnostic procedures and anticoagulation-therapy may bring better clinical results. The four vessels cerebral angiography remains, however, as the golden standard in diagnostic procedures. The same in treatment applies for systemic application of low-molecular heparin. In some cases, methods of intervention radiology can be used.
NOTES (Natural Orrifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery) - the Latest Trend in Miniinvasive Surgery
Tomáš Dušek, Leo Klein, Alexander Ferko, Otakar Sotona, Vladimír Špaček
VZL 2009, 78(3):90-92
Until today, classical methods of approach to the abdominal cavity have been connected with some, not particularly small, operational trauma and morbidity (laparotomy) or with some limitations of the approach and access (laparoscopy, endoscopy). A new modern method NOTES offers an intraluminal approach through the natural orrifice in order to minimize disadvantages of the previous methods. Although NOTES has been predominantly used in an experimental surgery, we may expect its expansion in clinical practice depending on the development of a new technology, and the specialised training of surgeons in the future.
